Howe happy to finally land Lerma

Bournemouth head coach Eddie Howe believes new signing Jefferson Lerma has plenty of qualities which will help him impress in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old Colombia international midfielder featured for his country in all five of their games at the World Cup earlier this summer and has now completed a move to the Cherries from Spanish outfit Levante.

And, with a prolonged chase for Lerma finally over and a five-year contract signed and sealed, Howe is looking forward to seeing how his new club record signing gets on this season.

He told the club's official website: "It's no secret that Jefferson has been someone we have chased for a while this summer.

"It's been a complicated deal, but I am certain it will be worth all the hard work that people have put in to make this happen.

"Jefferson is an extremely talented player and a very good athlete who will bring a different type of play to our midfield.

"He has a lot of qualities that will be suited to the Premier League and I'm really looking forward to working with him."

Lerma becomes the third major signing made by Bournemouth this summer, with defender Diego Rico having joined from Leganes, while midfielder David Brooks has been recruited from Sheffield United.

The Cherries begin their Premier League campaign at home to newly-promoted Cardiff City on Saturday, with the two sides having last met in the Championship during the 2014/15 season.

Bournemouth can be backed at 10/11 to make a winning start and are 17/2 to claim a 2-0 victory over the Bluebirds, with the Cherries 6/4 to keep a clean sheet.
