Melbourne Victory striker Ola Toivonen is set for his debut in Sunday's clash with Central Coast, after proving his fitness during the week.
The former Sweden international is likely to be in Kevin Muscat's squad as Victory look to build on last week's 1-0 success against Newcastle Jets.
That got them off the mark following defeats in their opening two games, and having Toivonen on hand would be a further boost going into the AAMI Park meeting.
The 32-year-old had been training on his own until this week, after missing the first three rounds with a lower leg issue.
He has done well since joining his teammates in training and though Muscat will wait until match day to make the call he's indicated the big forward should be available.
"We're pleased, really pleased at where he is; he's worked really hard, to be fair to him," said the coach.
"He was bitterly disappointed to miss the start of the season and he's put himself in a position where he's making us think good and hard about this weekend."
Raul Baena will miss out as he still has a hamstring complaint.
Muscat has never suffered defeat against the Mariners in 15 meetings, though he acknowledges they look an improved side this season.
"They've been really good in some games and then dropped away and then really good," said the coach."I suppose like everybody, them included and us included, are searching for that consistency.
"I'm looking forward to coming up against a team that have got some threats. We're going to have to earn everything we get on Sunday evening."
Central Coast have opened their campaign with two draws and a loss, and have won just one of their past 19 away games.
Central Coast are 7/1 to beat Melbourne Victory, who are 2/5 with the draw 15/4.
The Mariners are 20/1 to win 1-0.
